I like to imagine Gordon getting increasingly flustered at the vortigaunts' nonstop praises. Just like, face slightly going pink, rubs the back of his neck and looks away all "aw, shucks".

Like, yes, Gordon Freeman is an unstoppable force of nature, but he's also like. Just a guy. He's a nerd and probably a little overwhelmed with suddenly being this Big Hero™️ that everyone is in awe over.

He's the guy who single-handedly WRECKED the Citadel with nothing but the gravity gun, destroying everything and/or one in his path, but like. They kidnapped his friends. NOBODY touches his friends without feeling the wrath of ten thousand supernovas.

But he's also the guy who fiddles with stuff in his friends' labs like a kid in a candy store. He's a man of multitudes.

In June of 2022, I was going through all of the emotions watching Love Mechanics, KinnPorsche, To My Star 2, and Old Fashion Cupcake and here I am in October of 2024 feeling all the emotions from another YinWar series (Jack & Joker), another Thai series that has me screaming every episode (Peaceful Property), and another Korean piece directed by Hwang Da-Seul (Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo) with some GLs sprinkled on top (Reverse 4 U and The Loyal Pin).

This month will now be considered Cry-tober because every day I'm crying in the club.

I'm crying in the parking lot.

I'm crying drinking tea.

I'm crying eating breakfast.

I'M CRYING OVER ICE CREAM!

I do think that the current, general understanding of femmes fatales leans a bit too much on the "pew pew pew gun murder" part of that (rather broad, now) archetype and I can't really complain about it, but for me what really makes a femme fatale is

lying

to get people (especially men) to do things they wouldn't do otherwise

might personally resort to violence if out of options but generally doesn't (other people are doing the physical violence, that's the point)

men tend to find her incredibly alluring but how much of it is something she strives for and how much of it is them projecting?

trapped by the narrative

pretty much everything else is secondary.
